Half portions...

I have to admit, I haven't been very strict with myself with the half portions.  I am "conscious" everytime it is meal time, but I have not seen half a plate of leftover in front of me.

For lunch yesterday Fergie and I had an appetizer buffet of salads, a few pieces of sashimi, and a few raw oysters, then we spilt a pork belly main which turns out to be two pieces of pork belly each.

For dinner, we had pan fried Norwegian salmon with veggies and a small bowl of rice at home.  We debated whether we should stay in and open a bottle of wine, or go to the movies instead.  In the end, we went to the movies.  Usually he would have a Haagen-dazs caramel crispy sandwich, and I would have some shui mai or a bag of crisps (I tend to like salty rather than sweet things), but we shared a ginger ale instead.  So we had a booze free Friday night.  A small accomplishment I would say.

We are keeping with the exercises so far and we are feeling better with our bodies already.  The tip Patrick gave about maintaining the right kind of winded breathing during skipping is helpful.  The last time I felt this sore was after I climbed Mount Fuji in 2002.  Breathtaking experience at the summit at sunrise but also took my breath away for a good 3 weeks afterwards when I was limping like a crab.

Wishing everyone a good weekend ahead!  We are off to Italy tonight for a week!

  2. Hi Karim,
Patrick said "So, how can you tell when you're in the correct fat burning zone?  The easiest way is to check your breathing.  You should be just short of being winded when you jumprope.  If you have to stop and catch your breath, you're working too hard."
So now I always make sure I am not panting when I am skipping which has been a great help!
